# Poll: Who needs "create only" category type

- Yes I need.
- No. I dont need.
If you think about it, it solves lot many usecases like
- to contact list of moderators / admins without private message
- helpdesk for customers in SAAS / any organization
- talk to your CEO / ombudsman kind of scenarios for internal usage in orgs
- for personalized training / q & a among introvert audience.

We have something close to this if I’m understanding you correctly.
Out “Jobs” category has an auto-close applied to it almost immediately.
Effectively this means a member can make an OP to start a topic, but none can post replies.
Is this what you’re looking for?

Actually I dont want the submitter to see the list of topics in a category.
In the above case you explained, it is more like “see only” for everyone. I want “create only” for submitters and “create, reply, see” for admins / moderators

I’m not sure whether this cleanly fits into the semantics of a ‘category’.
I think it’d be better to think of it as expanding the functionality of groups and private messages.

@mcwumbly though it sounds like groups/private messages feature, IMHO it is a perfect fit for categories. If we enable private messages it is enabled for all. handling with categories provide granular security. again IMHO it is the simplest way to achieve the required result for all the below stated usecases
- to contact list of moderators / admins without private message
- helpdesk for customers in SAAS / any organization
- talk to your CEO / ombudsman kind of scenarios for internal usage in orgs
- for personalized training / q & a among introvert audience.
I would change my topic title to be more generic.

I haven’t voted for this poll because I don’t think the question is clearly defined yet.
The open topic for the Create and See category permission doesn’t prevent people from reading other topics.
So it doesn’t seem to address the use case you outlined in your other topic, or in the topic I created which you have referenced.

Thanks @mcwumbly. I have removed the “create and see” topic referred earlier. My usecase needs “Create only” category. I would update my topic in detail.
