# Pre-populating posts with some criteria

In our old community (which was largely a transactional support forum) we had the set the blank field for a New Post to contain some basic “fields.” The intent was to find out the OS and software version from a user when they had a problem.
It’d be great to have that ability now that we’ve moved to Discourse completely (woohoo!) and especially if we could create Templates based on the Category selected.
