# Issue in advanced category settings

Hello,

I noticed a bug in the advanced category settings: changes can only be saved in the general settings.

Do you have the same issue? For your information, I have updated Discourse.

Hmm… I edited settings in the Settings, General and Appearance tabs and every time, I could save changes, and it persisted after reloads.

Does this occur in [safe mode](https://meta.discourse.org/t/53504?silent=true)?

Yes, you’re right, it works without failure. I must have an issue with a plugin. I recently installed Custom Wizard, so I need to check that. Thanks for reminding me about the ‘without failure’ function.

I took a look, and actually, I can’t save the custom location settings in the event sorting wizard. Ah, I’ve discovered the Custom Wizard, and it’s a really great location feature. I’m going to run into an issue with usage 🤣

These should be unrelated. Does disabling the plugin fix the original problem? If so, perhaps you should report it in the plugin’s topic.

Sorry, I don’t have context here 😅 . Does this work in [safe mode](https://meta.discourse.org/t/53504?silent=true)? If so, could you disable them one by one to narrow down which one is causing this?

If it is indeed the Custom Wizard plugin, perhaps a bug report should be posted on the related topic? Thanks.

So you cannot save the category settings in [safe mode](https://meta.discourse.org/t/53504?silent=true)? Odd. Are you on ESR or latest?

I am on the latest version.

I switched to [safe mode](https://meta.discourse.org/t/53504?silent=true), enabled the dev tools (F12), and as soon as I go to the settings of a category, I get this:

I can save settings, but for example, event sorting doesn’t work, even though I believe it’s an official plugin.

It’s strange that I’m the only one encountering errors, but such is the mystery of computing—still, it’s a bit annoying 😅

Quite odd. If it’s a #calendar-and-event issue, perhaps adding the tag would be better?

The timing lines up with this being a duplicate of an [issue that was reported](https://meta.discourse.org/t/unable-to-save-category-settings-made-by-plugins/400699) and resolved with the `Custom Wizard Plugin`. There’s not enough information for me here to discern that it is different.

If the issue was with that plugin, it should be [working now](https://meta.discourse.org/t/custom-wizard-plugin/73345/961)
