I tried to replicate this here on Meta using the Horizon theme but I cannot. With it being a free site its not going to be any customisations as you can’t get any TCs or edit css etc.
This happens on both custom and default gravatar profile pictures and on both desktop / mobile
i don’t think it matters but currently my Desktop category page style site setting is set to ‘Boxes with featured categories’
That’s odd. Are you still seeing this, and could it be browser/network-specific? I just started a new site now and things look fine on /latest:

Changing browser to Edge worked on my laptop and removed the large profile pictures. However, On edge I now get this:
These errors all appeared at the same time
Since its a free site and can’t change themes etc its definitely not something I’ve done 
Edit: I no longer get this error. I see I posted 9hrs ago and the site was updated 7 hours ago.
