Progress bar displaying incorrect numbers after posts deleted

#1

Got this immediately after posting in 10k+ posts causes progress bar to show single number. I performed no additional navigation. This popped up immediately after posting my reply.

Based on the topic, the 40 is correct, 43 is wrong.

This is a dupe of

But obviously this is still happening so it needs to remain opened.

In this case there were live deletions in the topic. Guess how many posts were deleted? @sam shouldn’t the message bus handle that? Probably a rare case either way.

edit: I definitely see this too after posting in the topic, 100% confirmed. Regression since I know Sam worked hard on making the progress bar counts accurately reflect deletions.

I can no longer reproduce this, what I tried:

  1. Log in to try.discourse with 2 accounts, 1 admin, 1 normal
  2. Go to the topic with 1000 posts in both accounts
  3. Delete posts at the beginning and end of topic as admin
  4. Make post a normal

In all case the numbers displayed were sane

Flag to reopen if this is still an issue
