I am looking for promotional material for Discourse in german language. I already had a discussion with @JammyDodger concerning the video he announced in 2023 at Brand-new Discourse video! 🥳 Unfortunately there is no separate audio which can be translated, only some automated AI translation (with unknown quality) via youtube. Is there any new material from CDCK?
Note hat there will be the first Re:Publica in Vienna in early October (Servus Austria! | republica). “democratic public discourse” is one of the goals of this meeting, it might be a good place to discuss about the role of DIscourse for community building. Similar to the presentation of @Ralf_Stockmann at the last Berlin-based Re:Publica (then about his “Wiblio” project which is also based on Discourse, wiblio - hyperlokale Online Communities eurer Berliner Bibliotheken | republica . ).
Aside from digital promo material (Video etc.) some printed information is always very useful for any “first contact”.
Specifically, this event is in question: Startseite | re:publica Vienna There are countless other opportunities here in Germany (and elsewhere in Europe) to strike up a conversation with people from various communities. For example the many events which are currently organised throughout Europe under the “Digital independence” logo
In my experience, a piece of paper that you hand to people (and which then contains the relevant links) is a much better ‘icebreaker’ than simply referring them to a digital link – especially during a face-to-face conversation. That is precisely why business cards and printed leaflets are still handed out at all trade fairs worldwide today. And, unfortunately, “free” automatic translations using AI are not yet good enough – at least not in German language. That is why I am looking for
a) video material in German or with an audio track which can separately processed
b) printed materials about Discourse. Ideally, a leaflet in a Leporello booklet format (A4, double-sided)
The stickers are nice, but to be honest: they’ll only appeal to ‘nerds’ at best. I’m looking for material to convince decision-makers. For example in smaller or larger non-profit or for-profit organizations. And also for people who work with communities such as political parties.
In other words, people at the organizational level who are responsible for strategical decisions and budgets. Such as ‘managers’ or ‘heads of department’. Unfortunately, to convince these people about Discourse, you really need more than just a few stickers…

I was going to mention that we had the discourse.org website translated into German and a number of other languages, but am no longer seeing the language picker. The website is where I would send people and the URL is on most of the stickers. The site does have a techie bent these days.
I kinda like the idea of having something like this available to download as a PDF in a variety of languages. Interesting idea to explore what it might look like to put something like that together in a way that we think could be kept up to date without too much trouble.
