It still feels like a bug that when mcwumbly adds a tag to his topic, I receive a new notification that my post was linked. The link was already there when he posted the topic, and I was notified of the quote. Nothing has changed apart from the tag. So why is it expected that an edit triggers a second notification?
In addition to the steps in the first post, it also happens with these steps:
- notifiedUser creates a topic
- spammer replies as a linked topic. The post contains a link by default, so you only need to add the @mention and the quote.
→ notifiedUser is notified about the @mention (expected) and reads the topic - spammer adds a tag to the topic
→ notifiedUser is notified about being quoted in the post (unexpected, they were already notified and nothing has changed) - spammer edits the title of the topic
→ notifiedUser is notified about being linked in the post (unexpected, they have been notified before, and the post still didn’t change)
