# Reducing max file upload limit

Quick question, in my forum I had a bunch of very large embedded images that I wanted to be downloaded to stored as uploads locally.

In order to get those to download, I needed to set the upload limits very high.

If I now reduce those settings, will the downloaded images still be displayed?

I think there shouldn’t be any adversarial effect.

You can still do a backup, change this setting and rebake one of these post (🔧 → rebuild HTML) and see what happens (or doesn’t happen 🙂 ).

I’m pretty sure that changing that will affect only new posts.
