# Regarding reserved "admin" user name

I’m an owner of the site, so wanted to change my username I registered during Discourse activation to `admin`, but was refused as it’s a reserved username.
Is it safe to remove it from reserved list and use it?

Yes it should be safe. I think it’s only in the ‘reserved’ list so that people can’t register a new account with the name ‘admin’, and then use it for social engineering purposes. If you immediately register yourself as `admin`, then that problem is solved 👍
