Users report a bug where ‘related topics’ disappear after rereading a topic with more than 20 posts, even when jumping back to the first post or scrolling to the end. Moin initially documented the steps to reproduce using a sample topic, noting the issue occurs even in categories like #announcements where users automatically land on the first post after reading. Sam Saffron confirmed the exact repro: with zero unread topics, visiting a topic with >20 replies from post #1 and scrolling to the bottom causes related topics to vanish. He suspects the issue lies in the AI-related code at discourse-ai/lib/embeddings/entry_point.rb, possibly a client-side rendering problem despite data being present in the serializer. Moin later added that the bug persists even when unread topics exist, sharing a video for demonstration. Falco confirmed the issue will be resolved by a pending PR: https://github.com/discourse/discourse-ai/pull/976. Tags: ai, related-topics.
I’ve just noticed this again at New and improved About page at /about is live. This happens very easily in categories where you land on the first post after reading the whole topic like #announcements . The step of jumping to the first post happens automatically.
