# Renaming Tags: Consequences

I would like to confirm something:

If we rename a tag, let’s say there was a spelling mistake `devopment` and I want to edit and change to `development` what happens to all the topics the original tag was attached to?

Are they updated to use the renamed tag? If not, what is the best way to go about this to cause the least “damage.”?
