# Reply by e-mail message clip bug

Seems to be a minor bug when replying by email here the previous message is clipped except for the sender address and timestamp from discoursemail.

Can you share a screenshot that shows what you mean, or repro steps? Are you saying this is only happening on meta? Are you able to repro it on another site?

The repro steps to check this is just to reply by e-mail to the notification e-mail of a new post, when I did that earlier today here there was this footer:
Posted after my reply, but I logged in to edit that out manually. It may be from the formating from my e-mail sender is Tutao in Hannover. Not sure if other e-mail senders may not have that problem this is a minor issue don’t know if anyone else has experienced this. I can run test on my own site to see if this same thing occurs there.

Please do test it on your own site!
Any chance you are using outlook and don’t have the `-- ` signature separator in your email footers? Not Outlook no, was Tuta Mail. Checking Proton Mail now with my site may take few minutes.
Edit: With my site this occurs only when replying from Tutao Mail, not Proton Mail.

I turned on my email notifications so I can do a test. Replying by email here we’ll see what it looks like!

My test replying directly from gmail (one post up) seems to have worked as expected. No extraneous content from the email I replied to is in my reply.
These things are notoriously hard to troubleshoot because different email clients behave differently. I’d suggest you add the `-- ` signature in the email client you’re having trouble with, to nip it in the bud for your own purposes.
I am pretty sure this is not a bug so moving to #Support.

Thanks looks like enabling signature for e-mail sending will correct this, here is check reply with signature of dashes.
