# Reply is a new topic

Hi all,

Sometimes I click on discussions in discourse and I see that I am taken to one of the replies, not the first discussion. How can I explain to my users that their response can be their own topic?  
I need a little help understanding this feature.

You’re always taken to where you were up to when you were last in the topic, so if you’ve already read some of the responses you don’t go to the OP.

I’m not sure what you mean by this…

Edit: Your topic title implies that you’re asking about the “Reply as a new topic” feature, but I’m not sure what your actual question is. Can you clarify? 🙂
