# Replying doesn't quote post above

When I reply to a post, it doesn’t reference the OP. But when I delete the post and try again, it works. I am on the latest version of Discourse.

According to the default settings, the indicators that a reply refers to the post directly above it are suppressed. If you delete your reply and repost it, there will be a post in between, so they will be displayed. You can change this with the following page settings:

- `Suppress reply directly below`
- `Suppress reply directly above`
- `Suppress reply when quoting`
