Require Users to Read Welcome Topic

(Shea) #1

Hey Everyone! Is there a way to require users, once they approve their account, to be directed to the Welcome Topic before anything else? Thanks!

There is no reasonable way to force people to read the welcome PM at this time that I know of.

It doesn’t have to be a PM as much as an FAQ topic  Could you possibly point me in the right direction as to which php script could be edited to force the read maybe after the email address is confirmed?

You would need to have some sort of “quiz” page and require a “passing score” in order to be reasonably sure they read and comprehended.

Other that that it’s a relatively useless tl’dr checkbox thing

Silly question:

Could you use the custom registration fields to do this? Create a custom question, that as a link to the FAQ (if that’s possible), and in the FAQ is the answer to the question.

This requires two unknowns:

  1. Links are possible in the custom field title
  2. There is validation other than “non-empty”

I actually like the sound of this. Feature request?

More in the direction of awarding badges based on reading and comprehending a page.

We forced users to a Welcome Page by using a cookie. The process has been streamlined since this posting, but you can get the idea:
