# Vereiste versus optionele aanmeldingsvelden

The online safety act now in force in the UK requires us to have a policy to protect minors. Unfortunately I have not found a way to determine user ages. Our sign-up screens do have an optional “birth year” field. But I have not found a way in settings to make this required. Any suggestions how to do this? I am not woried about validating the field and we can take it as whatever new user inputs.
