Make a second post? Put the first paragraph (that you want to appear on the category page) in the original post generated by discourse, and then put more details in a second post.

Make the first paragraph the recommended length as specified in the help text you quoted?

I didn’t exceed the length, was just wondering how to make sure only the first paragraph shows up. Anyways, I’m going with @jomaxro ’s solution. Thanks for the fast reply guys! You helped me out!

I believe @sam also added custom tag for specifying excerpt exactly as well.
