This is incorrect, and has been covered here many times. There is no SEO difference between subfolder and subdomain — except subfolder is an order of magnitude more difficult to set up and maintain.

If you wish to opt in to suffering by choosing the vastly more complex configuration of subfolder, you may, but you will have to solve your own problems.
