I was just visiting [Quick actions · Project · User · Help · GitLab](https://framagit.org/help/user/project/quick_actions) and thought it would be a nice feature to have such markup extensions to Discourse. There’s a `/shrug` command on Gitlab that turns into `¯\＿(ツ)＿/¯`

Custom commands could be set for inline interpretation, e.g.:

- `RFC:2324` to auto-link to [RFC 2324 - Hyper Text Coffee Pot Control Protocol (HTCPCP/1.0)](https://tools.ietf.org/html/rfc2324)
- `ISBN:9780141036144` to auto-link to [https://www.abebooks.com/book-search/isbn/9780141036144/](https://www.abebooks.com/book-search/isbn/9780141036144/) (or whatever site has an ISBN search)
- etc.
