# Splitting a message in 2

Could it be possible for a moderator to split a message in 2 and leave the IT part where it is, while moving the OT part somewhere else?

An admin can do that:
1. Edit post, cut part of the text
2. Create a reply, paste text
3. Change ownership of the reply
4. Move reply to a new topic
A moderator lacks the capability to change the ownership of a post, but that could [change](https://meta.discourse.org/t/allow-mods-to-change-post-ownership/21112/22).
