SSO and not automatic log in?

(Sigurður Guðbrandsson) #1

Continuing the discussion from Official Single-Sign-On for Discourse:

If you require users to be logged in to view your page, and you have SSO enabled, they will be logged in automatically (no splash page).
As @codinghorror mentioned, if you want to change the behavior you can add this as an admin option into a PR.

@wesochuck, how do users log in on your forum already?
Do they go to a specific website then click “forum”?

Before we simply gave them the Disourse URL which loaded the admin/customize/site_text/login_required_welcome_message page and then they clicked the login button. The login_required_welcome_message had the list of system requirements and also some additional information about the site and links to our other services. From there they would click the login button, they would get a browser pop-up to log into and would then login using their Active Directory username / password.

I’ll have to see if I can get some time with our developer to see if this is possible. He isn’t a Ruby guy and has a list of other projects ahead of him, but I’ll probably have him take a look to see if he can add it as an option before I have him build a custom splash page.
