# Staff-generated invites bypass the must\_approve\_users requirement

I’m not sure that this is a bug.

Reading previous topics on [global invite codes](https://meta.discourse.org/t/optional-global-invite-code/144376/) and [invites to bypass approval](https://meta.discourse.org/t/use-an-invite-code-to-bypass-new-user-approval/101923/) this may well be by-design. Someone from the team would need to comment though.

Did you see something in the documentation that led you to believe invites which weren’t tethered to an email added the approval step @Wall-E ?
