Testing Boosts on Meta

Regardless of how well it worked, that was a fun time trying it live for a several weeks

Can’t wait to see the next iteration (if it happens)!

I found this feature to be quite appealing

Boosts is a great idea. I think they should be an option.

I would see possibility to choose from 3 options: Normal likes, Reactions or Boosts. (or none)

Good job as always!

For sure they will be back at some point, we just can’t give the concept of rolling boosts, likes, and reactions into one seamless package the attention it deserves right now  It’s great that people have enjoyed the concept so far though!

Related, for consideration.
I haven’t used it a ton and I’m no longer on Medium but I thought the idea of Claps (on Medium) was interesting. Some random thoughts about the feature:

  • May only apply (well) to the “long form” content?
  • I can see how it could be a problem for content that is versioned.
  • Probably have to track how many applauses a user is allotted each
  • probably TrustLevel 2 gets more than 1 etc.
  • Would be interesting to think about how that “analogue-ness” could be aligned with the boosts feature.

I always thought, with a finite currency of [claps] in someones profile, choosing to spend more (or less) on a particular item is interesting way to guage “engagement”.
