# The backup failed: unable to sign request without credentials set

Good afternoon everyone, I have a question and I’m getting an error that The backup failed, has anyone had this error or knows the solution.

You’ll need to include the logs or some more info.

A likely solution is that you’re out of disk space. The solution would be to keep fewer backups or put them on S3

It has to do with your S3 settings. It looks like something thinks it should be encrypted and something else doesn’t know how to encrypt it.

So google something like “aws s3 unable to sign request without credentials set”
