This is the markdown representation. The picture will only show up in the post preview pane and in the saved Topic. The composer is deliberately not WYSIWYG to keep things simpler and robust. This has been discussed and debated at length in prior Topics, eg [Who would prefer a standard wysiwyg to markdown?](https://meta.discourse.org/t/who-would-prefer-a-standard-wysiwyg-to-markdown/31340)

For efforts to create a WYSIWYG editor take a look at:
