# The text/plain alternative in Discourse emails just made me smile

I just read a summary email from discourse in mutt and was so pleasantly surprised to see markdown as the text/plain alternative. After years of seeing text/plain alternatives disappearing or becoming useless stripping of tags from the HTML mail it’s refreshing to see it done right.

Why should a text/plain advertised email be markdown instead ?
