# Theme-Komponenten: Update auf die neueste Version löscht hochgeladene Dateien

Maybe this is a normal behaviour, but when I update a theme component from a git repository all uploads for that component are deleted. Is this a bug? Thanks!

This is normal behaviour. Interesting timing, though: I was working on a mini-feature today that warns you before running the update when the theme has local uploads or changes. [PR is here](https://github.com/discourse/discourse/pull/7443).

Thanks! So if a theme component requires eg an image, best practice would be to upload it to a hidden topic?

That used to be the way Discourse managed assets. A media library is planned, but AFAIK has no firm ETA.

Ist das immer noch so? Ich erhalte keine Warnung, wenn ich Dateien auf eine Remote-Komponente hochlade.
