# To what extent is generative AI used to create Discourse?

At the moment much of the core team uses some variety of AI (lots of varying configurations including Claude, Gemini, Copilot, ChatGPT, etc… coming in the form of the standard chatbots, CLI tools, IDEs like Cursor). Things change very quickly and there’s a lot of experimentation. We certainly use it more than we did a year ago.

We also have AI specific tools in use like our [MCP](https://meta.discourse.org/t/discourse-mcp-is-here/386983) and [Discourse Vibe](https://meta.discourse.org/t/using-dv-discourse-vibe-to-configure-discourse-ai-in-development/388622).

Everything is still human-approved before getting merged.
