# Tone down the new indicator and change it to mean 'never opened'

+1 vote for just a dot. `• new` I believe is too visually distracting to see on nearly all topics when you haven’t visited in a while. Especially in an otherwise largely monochromatic interface. As you outline [here](https://meta.discourse.org/t/new-indicator-far-too-visually-strong/19575/39) and [here](https://meta.discourse.org/t/new-indicator-far-too-visually-strong/19575/50) there is definitely modern precedence for that.

Maybe a bigger blue dot? Perhaps the same size as the # new indicator ![](https://global.discourse-cdn.com/meta/original/3X/a/5/a58caae6d248efaa7b1e2619348d23c1d1268b86.png) but without the number inside.
