How do I enable this Wide mode for Full Page Search again?

I’m trying to figure out the thumbnails on the search.
I enabled it but I only get the default thumbnail when the search tries displaying the preview. In tag intersections it sees the thumbnails just fine but the search doesn’t work. eg:
Any ideas on what might cause that?

It does work on the test server after I’ve updated it, but as you can see I didn’t find how to make it have “wide” style

This was never implemented on search. It’s a feature request.
Check the grid options (one on sidecar, one on theme c) if you want things to take up less space.

That’s exactly the thing I’ve disabled because I felt it was cringe
But yes, if there’s nothing better then it’s better then fullscreen images lol

There’s no equivalent API to the Topic List on search so layout options are more limited.
You cannot overwrite templates anymore.

Thanks for experimenting with new layouts.
A few thoughts:
On desktop the existing wide format has lots of space, but on mobile?
Where are the excerpts? Don’t forget the design has to sensibly accommodate those.
How do you handle different image aspect ratios or are you forcing 16:9 as per my wide format? (reasonable design decision but let’s be explicit - there are tradeoffs)
The duplication of avatars seems unnecessary given the limited space?
Each component needs to be a sensibly sized click surface.
One nice thing about supporting a new similar format for mobile is we could add a setting to select it across both desktop and mobile in similar fashion to current settings.

On mobile it switches to full-width image format which was IMO too large for mobile, that’s why I made this

Under the OP avatar. We don’t use them, just dropped it somewhere. Maybe should be above avatar.

Does your format enforces 16:9 for wide tho? iirc image width was variable

It’s “large OP avatar” to see who’s OP. It doesn’t use more vertical space, just covers the padding and is moved to the left

dunno what are you talking about, everything’s mostly same size as it was

I have no idea how to make default theme on mobile and pc different and dark, so we only have this always-dark always-wide default theme atm

Facebook & Instagram? They both have similar layouts and large wide, full width images just like TLP’s tiles.
There’s a current alternative to Tiles already - just turn Tiles off on mobile.
If you can revert with a more mature, clean, full-featured demo of your alternative (inc. images, excerpts, single avatar location, multiple topics) within the confines of mobile screen dimensions that would be great.

imho, the layout on the right looks untidy right now … I would not merge that.
The image looks particularly awkward. You need to solve that.
I don’t think you can beat a full width image (which automatically takes care of various aspect ratios).

The above error only happens for anonymous (non-logged-in) users, and the tile height is not adjusted properly. However, when a user is logged in, the error disappears, and the tile displays everything correctly. The above error only happens when the Topic List Preview is enabled.

I currently can’t reproduce unfortunately. Everything is working fine whether logged in or out on latest Discourse.
