Maybe what you want is [Creating a link to start a new topic with pre-filled information](https://meta.discourse.org/t/compose-a-new-pre-filled-topic-via-url/28074?source_topic_id=28327) for a reply rather than a topic. It’d require you to generate the URL, which is a bit fiddly, but it might not be too bad. What do you think, @techAPJ?
