It’s unlikely you will find somebody who will go into your server and fix it all for you for free. Lots of people can do it but you will need to pay them, I believe @pfaffman offers recovery services but I may be incorrect
If I can afford it, I’m ready to pay.
Did you CTRL + C in the middle of the command? You should wait for it to finish fully instead of stopping midway.
Oh, it’s possible I didn’t understand the situation and made a mistake.
Ahem! Not sure why you keep doing that? It won’t help ![]()
Be patient and let it finish.
Oh yeah, not sure how I missed that.. there’s your problem. You won’t get very far if you keep interrupting the rebuild.. ![]()
A rebuild may take 20 mins. At minimum. The bit you are cancelling with control-C may take 5 mins. If you really have waited 10 mins with nothing happening at that stage, you should say so.
On a slower machine the rebuild might even take much longer. Could be an hour. If you do anything, be sure to note the time and say how much time has elapsed.
this is not a build issue. it is a VPSmanager issue with eurobytes.ru - they seem to have enabled a firewall that is blocking sign up payloads as well as file uploads. i went through the nginx config and it’s working but post payloads are being blocked before the server. i have already discussed with the OP and provided messages (in Russian) to send to the support at vds.eurobyte.ru.
Yes, thank you very much
I was impatient
we are all impatient with broken forums! no problem. this turned out to be an interesting issue. ![]()
edit: this is a company forum so the impatience was very understandable - nobody likes downtime, especially for hours.
fixes:
- fixed
containers/app.yml file is world-readable& corrected anapp.ymlfile syntax problem - reviewed/ corrected the nginx & Russian isp/vps firewall configuration
- recovered 25 GB with clean up of ghost image files left on server from incomplete/ failed rebuilds
- forum file upload settings updated to 100MB:
max attachment size kb&max image size kb - recommend server upgrade from 2GB → 4GB RAM, this is an image-heavy forum it seems, and the swap file is working very hard, especially noticeable on rebuilds, which is why the OP was exiting when it appeared to hang - rebuilds were taking +40 minutes

edit:
just noting that a side effect of all this was a bunch of sidekiq email jobs got stuck and had to be purged.
