# How to disable community DM emails to reduce costs

Every user in the community receives an email whenever they get a private message, which significantly increases the cost of my mail server. I want to disable all private message emails for users, keeping only emails for summaries, registration, login, etc.

I think this would be the `Default email messages level` site setting, and should be set to ‘Never’.
