# Can I set up a trending topic now?

Old threads from many years ago are appearing in the default hot topics. I’d like to know where this is configured so that old, unreplied threads from years ago can be excluded.

There isn’t currently a setting to exclude older topics from Hot based on their age or how long they’ve been inactive.
Hot does take age and recent activity into account when calculating the score, but there isn’t a hard cutoff.

usually recent replies are required to get something on the hot topic list, would it be worth closing the topics so people aren’t bumping the activity for them?

Can we set custom parameters for trending topics? This feature would essentially be a popularity leaderboard, which would be incredibly valuable.
