# Troubleshooting broken link

When you access the link by opening a new tab it works fine, but when stay in the same window it gives a broken/private page error:

I have encountered something similar when adding a new shortcut to the sidebar navigation. Am I missing something?

Do you have an example page with the link? I haven’t been able to reproduce the problem.

Permalinks work for incoming links, but not within-site links. (Unless that changed when I wasn’t looking or forgot?)

If you did a migration, what you want to do is to replace those internal links with their corresponding Discourse link.
