# Turn off two factor authentication

How can an admin turn off two factor authentication for a user?

Navigate to the admin page for the user and click Disable.

It gives me the following error:

You’ll need to use the console then, or wait for [this fix](https://github.com/discourse/discourse/pull/10144) to finish going through review and update your site.

The fix has been merged. You’ll need to ensure your site is up to date via `/admin/upgrade`, then Disable 2FA.
