# Unchanged category definition topic shows up as new

Categories are hidden in Discourse while the category definition topic is not modified. Indeed, I cannot see the `chat` category here.

While the [category definition topic for chat](https://meta.discourse.org/t/about-the-chat-category/37474) also was filtered out from the suggestions on the bottom of topic pages, it showed up as a new topic in the New-tab.

Yep, noticed this as well, however I _can_ see the chat category, and can open it as well:  
Post appearing in `New` list:

I can also access these fine – I just wanted to say that the category is hidden on the categories page as expected. I could only find it by the link in New.

While I cannot see it on the Categories page, I do see it in the hamburger menu:
