# Unlisted only means not listed in topics list

After some [feedback](https://meta.discourse.org/t/unlisting-a-thread-breaks-links-that-have-old-thread-names/68440) and internal discussion we decided that the whole concept of “expecting slug matches” was deeply flawed since we expose the slugs anyway via JSON api.

Now [“Unlisted”](https://meta.discourse.org/t/what-is-the-difference-between-closed-unlisted-and-archived-topics/51238) simply means (1) not visible in topic lists (except for staff) and (2) not google indexable. A lot easier to explain!

This is change is now implemented per:
