# Upcoming post stream changes - How to prepare themes and plugins

We have just merged a pull request that enables the Glimmer Post Stream by default.

After the next update, compatible sites will automatically use the new Post Stream. Sites using incompatible extensions will fall back to the older version and display warnings in the browser console.

For now, you can manually enforce the use of the old Post Stream by setting `glimmer_post_stream_mode` to `disabled`.
