# Update Not Completing

I am not an IT type but more a hobbyist when it comes to software. I have been attempting to update as recommended from 3.5.0.beta2-dev to 3.5.0 but on my two Discourse sites, and after two attempts each, something goes wrong and the update does not go through. I only receive: “Something went wrong.” Is there fix for this? Thank you.

You will need to perform a command line rebuild. See

It’s always possible that an in-browser update will unexpectedly fail, so you should always choose a time when you can suffer the downtime you might need, and you can then fall back to a command line rebuild. (And you should take a backup and download it before you do anything.)
