# Upvotes and downvotes function for topics list

Hi Everyone and thank you for reading this post.  
Is there a way to upvote and downvote topics on the category page? For instance, if we wanted users to be able to up and down vote the topics here.

There is no built in way of doing this, it is a bit at odds with the project goals that try to encourage reading.

If you can like stuff without reading your likes mean less.

Technically something is doable in a theme component, but I am not aware of any. Downvoting though is not a thing in Discourse.
