# Use embed.ly while embedding new links

[http://embed.ly/](http://embed.ly/) is a service which is automatically displaying thumbnails and rich media previews for videos when a new link is posted (in a discussion).  
Is there a way to use it on discourse(or something similar)?

Discourse has [Onebox](https://github.com/discourse/onebox) which is open source and relatively easy to extend. If there’s any content you want to embed in your Discourse forum but can’t, post a feature request here on meta. As long as the originating website provides any form of embedding service, I’m sure it can be included in the oneboxer. 🙂

embed.ly is a paid service, and requires access keys, so it won’t work for Discourse.

The onebox gem which @elberet linked above does the same thing.
