# User post deletion time limit?

Does anybody know how to set a time limit for when users can delete their own posts?

All users? Or only certain TL levels?

`post edit time limit` is what you need to check.

Does the ‘post edit limit’ also affect how long users can delete their posts?

I think it does affect how long it’s possible to delete a topic (the first post). That becomes impossible after someone replies or after the `edit time limit` passes. But if I remember correctly, the `edit time limit` does not influence the deletion of replies.

According to the [Trust Level Permissions Reference](https://meta.discourse.org/t/trust-level-permissions-reference/224824) there is only a limit per minute and per day, no time based limit

Hmm… perhaps it should? Since deleting the post essentially edits the post 🤔…
