# User preference: Latest vs categories

I’ve seen several discussions on one vs the other as the homepage. Is there a reason not to make this a user preference?

i see now its a user preference between category/ latest. In the site setting, there is category, category/ latest, and category/ featured topic.

Is there a particular reason why the choices in the user preference aren’t the same as the choices available in the site setting?
