# Using the Discourse AI plugin

Hey, since when has AI plugin been in the Discourse core?

About the summarize feature, how does it works? is it on demand, it summarize when the user click the summarize button? or are other options like allways show a summary of the the topic that is opened by the user?

You can have it either on-demand only, and we also ship a configuration to backfill summaries on the background.

Themes can show the summaries on top of every topic, we have done for some customers.
