I don’t know. But [Add localizable strings to themes and theme components](https://meta.discourse.org/t/adding-localizable-strings-to-themes-and-theme-components/109867) might offer some clues. I _think_ that you need to fork the theme component, but I’m not sure and haven’t looked at the code lately to know if I’m right.
