If going with linking to something external, wouldn’t using <image> work here and avoid the need to change allowed_iframes ?

That is what the above PR does if you read it

But if you load the svg with the HTML img tag as we do today, it won’t load external images contained in the SVG image tags. It must be loaded using either object or iframe for that to work.
