# Very small non square profile images won't save?

New one I think discovered by a user. If profile image is not square (i.e. discourse says it’ll crop it) the image isn’t persisted. If image is manually adjusted and square, it will save it.

Using latest 1.3 beta 1 +102 version.

Are you storing images locally or on s3?

@zogstrip can you have a look at this?

Will do shortly but basically the following steps:

1. Profile
2. Edit profile pic
3. Select custom pic
4. Upload
5. Msg says “image not square and will be cropped etc etc”
6. Nothing happens, new image does not replace the existing avatar pic (at this stage a square pic is usually shown). No error message is shown.

Click save, no new pic.

If I manually resize the pic before uploading it works perfectly. My guess would be the image cropping isn’t working. This did work once upon a time.

EDIT: I just tried it again with a different pic, and it did crop it… Hmm.. Either intermittent issue or some sort of a size restriction.

Aha, so seems like a pic that’s 100x93px maybe too small to crop? If I manually crop it to 93x93 it uploads just fine.
