What is a tag group?

I’d like to know what is a tag group.
(searched about it for a while, but couldn’t find any info anywhere)
(I checked in admin settings too, couldn’t find anything about “tag groups” there either).

While creating a new category, I saw this “list of allowed tag groups”
So - how can I group tags?
