Achteraf gezien is het logisch om dat bestand te hebben, met waarschijnlijk de oudste ondersteunde versie of een opmerking ergens die verwijst naar de documentatie voor het compatibiliteitsbestand.
Het is een skelet en een compatibiliteitsbestand speelt tegenwoordig een belangrijke rol.
